Effect of Humic Acid Functionalized Bentonite on Heavy Metal Uptake by Spinach (Spinacia oleracea cv. All Green) Grown on Metal Contaminated Soil

چکیده

A pot culture study was conducted to investigate the impact of applying humic acid functionalized bentonite (HA-B) on uptake heavy metals by spinach. When soil amended with 7.5 g kg-1 intercalated bentonite, there a significant improvement in plant growth. Specifically, growth increased 180.7%, 212%, and 231% during first, second, third cuttings, respectively. Additionally, concentration spinach decreased substantially, reductions 62.8, 69.7, 77.7% for Cd 34.7%, 45.2%, 64.7% Ni respectively, when applied. Furthermore, addition at rate significantly lowered bioconcentration factor (BCF) metals. The BCF 36.3%, 40%, 55.2% 15.2%, 13%, 34.7% indicating reduced these plants. Moreover, non-cancer health risk through hazard quotient (HQ) computation showed that due consumption application bentonite.

Biochar impact on physiological and biochemical attributes of Spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) in nickel contaminated soil

Disastrous effect of nickel on spinach was discussed by number of authors but the effect of amendments like biochar with nickel on Spinacea oleraceaL. is not still discussed by any author of the world because biochar was used as soil amendments which play a vital role in reducing mobilization and uptake of nickel by spinach plants.  As nickel contaminated plants are very harmful for th...

Toxicity and Bioaccumulation of Heavy Metals in Spinach (Spinacia oleracea) Grown in a Controlled Environment

The impact of heavy metal toxicity on the shoot and root lengths, total protein, fiber characteristics, moisture content and nutrient composition of spinach (Spinacia oleracea) was evaluated. Plants were grown in pots containing soil and treated with different concentrations (mg/kg) of lead (Pb; 300, 400 and 500), cadmium (Cd; 0.5, 1 and 1.5) and zinc (Zn; 250, 500, and 700) as well as mixtures...

Effect of heavy metal contaminated shooting range soils on mycorrhizal colonization of roots and metal uptake by leek.

We grew leek (Allium porrum) in soils of two shooting ranges heavily contaminated with heavy metals in the towns of Zuchwil and Oberuzwil in Switzerland as a bioassay to test the activity of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi in these soils. Soil samples were taken from (1) front of the shooting house (HOUSE), (2) the area between house and target (FIELD) and (3) the berm (BACKSTOP). Samples of ...

Effect of Biochars from Rice Husk, Bran, and Straw on Heavy Metal Uptake by Pot-Grown Wheat Seedling in a Historically Contaminated Soil

The effect of biochar amendment of a multi-element contaminated soil on the transfer and accumulation of Cd, Zn, Pb, and As in wheat was investigated in this study. Addition of biochars from rice residues (straw, husk, and bran) significantly decreased shoot Cd, Zn, and Pb concentrations by up to 71%, 37%, and 60%, respectively, but increased As by up to 199%. Biochar additions decreased the NH...
